Founder / Editor-in-Chief

Jim founded OTFM in 2013 as a digital magazine allowing him to share his passions for fly fishing, wingshooting, conservation and associated lifestyle. Raised in a family with a rich history of fishing, hunting, and travel, it was natural to carry that forward and seek to share stories from and with like-minded individuals. In 2022, Jim decided to add a collector-quality print magazine as an option for subscribers who prefer the feel of a quality print publication.

Executive Editor

 Brian grew up in the Colorado Rockies and caught the fly fishing bug while still in single digits. That infection erupted into a full-bore obsession during college, then festered for a few decades alongside a moderately respectable professional career as a corporate software consultant. After numerous years abroad as an expat and road warrior, he ended up on the Gulf Coast and transitioned fully from trouty carp bum to salty fish nerd.

An adventurous foodie who plays with knives and fire in the kitchen, he's also an avid interculturalist, mediocre fiddler, and inveterate reader with tastes ranging from history and natural science to cheap spy novels. He moderates several large fly fishing communities on social media, runs the Houston chapter of the Baker Street Irregulars, and is fortunate enough to be parenting the two most interesting people he’s ever met.
