SNAKE RIVER: There is STILL a HUGE push of water from the dam. The river is as clear as it gets for being so high and the fishing is so-so. Streamers are a good bet! Try drifting them without striping. Add a bit of a twitch as well. Don’t be suprised if you run into some baetis and mahagonys in the slower side channels. Terrestrials are still getting the job done too. Hopefully we will see a break in the flows one of these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK:
The park has been fishing well as with most most of the waters in the immediate vicinity. Fall hatches have started and there are reports of some Browns coming up from the lakes outside the park. Pick a stream and go for a walk. Don’t forget to bring along some streamer patterns.
SOUTH FORK:
I can’t say much for the upper river right now. In fact, I’d leave it alone. Drove up there last week and saw a couple boats but the water is slity. The flows have dropped from the summer irrigator pillage flush but due to Palisdades looking more like a shallow pond, much of the water coming through the gates is laden with the silty bottom goo. Personally, if I was to fish that river, the lower, below Byington would be my choice. The Browns should also start to get fiesty soon.
