From Teacher to Pupil

By Jared Baecker

My passion for the last ten years has been fly fishing wild waters in the Northern Rockies. The tendency in my life is to live based upon the lessons of my parents. After years of waiting, I finally had an opportunity to share my knowledge with my dearest mother, Patty.

I, Jared became the teacher and Patty, the student.

Mid-September is when my parents make their annual pilgrimage to the Tetons from Connecticut. There is no better way to relax and enjoy this wonderful landscape then by spending a few hours walking the rivers and creeks of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. Each Fall for the last five years I have the opportunity to spend time fishing many wonderful waters with my stepfather, Ray. Usually, Patty is in tow with a book in one hand and a disposable camera in the other.
Finally, last Fall my mother began to show interest in picking up my fly rod.
